11th in the World Championships

World Championships in orienteering started on sunday by sprintdistance.

The first competitionday here in Czech's Olomouc was THE big day for me, my only distance during the week. This year I was 11th best sprinter in the world. Don't feel like 'jibbijei', but I'm in a way.

Venlojen viesti 10.

The season biggest goal for us, "PR chicas", was Venlojen viesti in Tampere last weekend. The relay was exciting and difficult, which was suppose to suit us well. The result (10.) didn't fill our goal or dream, but after chasing the big gap, which came in the first leg, it felt pretty good result.

Satu was as a surprise (for herself also, ofcourse) not recovered from the flue and was suffering physically, changing 92. +10.13 after the lead from the first leg. Then started the operation chase of the lead. Salla passed 60 teams (changhing 33.), Inga continued passing more than the rest half (changing 15.) and I could still climb up till 10th team in the finnish.

Domnarvets GoIF from Sweden won the Venla relay, Nydalen from Norway was second and IFK Lidingö from Sweden was third. The best Finnish club was Rasti Karhut (6.).

EM-bronze, 8th and 16th

Photo: IOF www.orienteering.org
EM-bronze in relay and 8th place in middle brought the smile back on my face after a bad sprintrace.

European championships in Latvia offered every day really nice and tricky courses and well organized competitions. Ventspils was a beautiful city and forrest were really beautiful also, even the weather was sunny everyday.

...Positive feelings after EOC, now towards WOC... this trip proved that the set goals are realistic.
