Venla 12th...I was dreaming if this year would be succesfull for us in Venlojen viesti... But not really. 12th place is ok among more than 1000 teams, but not satisfying.  photo by S. All the top nations of orienteering had travelled to Finland, so it was a really good opportunity to measure the shape with the best orienteers. My results were 6th in longdistance, 4th in relay (Fin 2nd team), 11th in middle and 21st in sprint... 
Read more... 04 May 2009 The first races in a nutshellFinally a short descriptions, maps and results from my first competitions.Difficult to say a conclusion, at one day I am happy and full of hope, one day I am very pissed off with my shape. Everyday seems to be different. Anyway I have been training well (except the black period before the fiirst races) and better than before, so I am expecting that the results will also show it later. Speed in forrest (AnK) starts to be ok, but my max-shape is not yet good (as you saw in cross-SM :-( ), but I am working with it. It will come when it's time... You will see, grr. Today and tomorrow are pretty important competitions coming.. Then I will run also on sunday Finnish Champs in ultralong as it is a good training for longdistances. It's fun to travel, but it's sweet to come back home too!My long trainingcamp in Italy started on february 24th. Firstly ten days camp with Paimion Rasti, then five days "brains-off" and enjoying of the Rome culture, and afterwrads ten days training with Finnish national team. The long period went like planned and I trained well. I liked all the places I wisited: Castallaneta Marina (close Taranto), Gargano, Rome and Fiuggi. Forrest were pretty, weather was mainly bautifull (10-18c), as well as the landscape. People were kind, food delcious and hotels good level...
